Our approach to personal training looks at the processes required to lead a healthier, more energised life.

We provide personal training in gyms in York and Easingwold and home based personal training across York and North Yorkshire.

We help you to find activities that you can enjoy and look forward to doing.  This could be something you've enjoyed in the past but feel prevented from doing due to current health and fitness levels.  It could be a new activity such as Nordic Walking or an exercise class.  We work with you to improve your fitness levels so that you are confident that you are able to do your chosen activity without worrying about injury or lack of fitness.

If you already have a gym membership but aren't getting the most out of it, we provide motivational support and updated program design through our on-line training diary.

How much physical activity do I need to do?

The chief medical officer recommends "a total of at least
30 minutes a day of at least moderate intensity physical
activity on at least 5 or more days of the week."

We say, just move more! If you can only do 10 minutes
do 10 minutes.  Walk instead of using the bus or the car.
Use the stairs instead of the lift.  Any additional activity is
beneficial but try to include at least one session of
structured activity every week.

Why do I need to do resistance training?

Most people realise the need to be more active but
few realise the importance of doing some form of
strength training.  As well as improving muscle tone,
resistance training helps to:

Burn more fat.  Muscles that are toned are on
standby all day, and burn more  energy.  By
resistance training you increase your metabolic rate
and so use more calories all day.

•    Maintain muscle balance, reducing the risk of injury.

•    Strengthen bones, increase bone density reducing
    risk of osteoporosis

   Increase flexibility and mobility

   Prevent back pain

   Reduce effects of diabetes

   Enhance confidence and self esteem

The training program is achievable and requires no more than the equipment and facilities I have available to me. Most importantly it is enjoyable. I am learning to look forward to my exercise and have suddenly realised that with just a little reorganisation of my life I can say with all confidence that I am no longer a sedentary being." JS, York
